Ghanaian President Wishes Black Stars Good Luck
President of Ghana John Kufuor has wished the Ghanaian national football team good luck ahead of their meeting with Benin tomorrow.
The Black Stars reached the final of the four-nation Zenith Bank Tournament after beating Togo 2-0 on Sunday, with the Les Ecureuils edging past the United Arab Emirates in the other match. As the final approaches, the prez said, ""I've no doubt that you can do it to inspire yourselves and to assure all Ghanaians that you are capable of winning the African Cup of Nations in 2008." Kufuor may be accused of bandwagon-hopping as he hastens to congratulate the Black Stars, but given that he's known as a soccer fan, his intentions may be perfectly fine. Kufuor was first elected as Ghanaian president in 1996. 2008 marks the end of his tenure as his second and constitutionally-mandated final term will draw to a close. source:goal.com |
