CAF President Calls For A Violence Free Tournament

The CAF president gave this message at the just-concluded 4th International conference of the African Football and Other Sports Supporters Union (AFOSSU) in Accra.
Hayatou, who was accompanied by CAF board member and Vice-Chairman of the Ghana 2008 LOC, Lepowura Jawura, said the manner with which fans and supporters of participating teams conduct themselves will ultimately decide the success of the competition.
Reports in the News Agency of Nigeria reveal that delegates from 10 out of the 16 countries that would take part in the tournament later next month where in attendance at the conference.
“The Nations Cup remains the greatest and the most crowd-pulling carnival on the continent, with supporters clubs from the 16 qualified nations coming to add more glamour to it,” he said in his message.
“Any of the 16 nations that qualified for the final of the competition is also qualified to win the competition. But only one country will emerge winner.
“That said, participation is more crucial than wining. So win or lose, participants should relate and rejoice freely with one another."
He also pointed out that the global football world would be devoid of glamour without the participation of talented African Players.
The Nations cup kicks off on January 20 next year and will end on February 10 in the West African country of Ghana.
