Senegal Coach Kasperczak Quits
Senegal coach Henryk Kasperczak has resigned with immediate effect.
The Polish-born coach, under pressure from angry fans at home, stepped down as Teranga Lions boss after guiding his side to just one point from their opening two fixtures. Such a poor haul has left the West African outfit needing to win their final game against South Africa, and for Angola to beat Tunisia, and for these two results to overturn a four-strike goal difference deficit. With Angola and Tunisia each requiring a draw to advance, the idea of Angola risking too much in pursuit of a win is unlikely, although they would require one in order to finish top of the the group. In any case, Kasperczak's position had become untenable, and his assistant, Lamine Ndiaye, has taken over for the time being. The 61-year-old was appointed as coach in 2006, having previously served Mali, Morocco, Tunisia, and a wealth of French clubs. source:goal.com |
