Stadium Disaster Victims Stable

All the injured are recovering in various Salvador public hospitals but no more deaths have been reported after a car crash death in the Alagoinhas neighbourhood was falsely reported as being an eighth fan to die in the wake of the concrete floor giving way suddenly at the Bahia ground.
Forty-one victims received treatment for their wounds after the accident: 17 at the Geral do Estado Hospital and 24 at the Roberto Santos Hospital. Out of these only four - Germano Andrade, José Maria Sena, Jader Landerson Santos Azevedo and Patrícia Vasquez Palmeira - are still in hospital.
Monday saw all seven victims of the tragedy buried in Salvador, including a twin ceremony for cousins Jadson Celestino Araújo Silva and Josilito Lima Júnior at the Bosque da Paz ceremony, and public protests broke out with calls for compensation and a decent inquiry into the events.
That area of the Fonte Nova stadium was occupied by organised supporters group Bamor, whose pogo dancing at the promotion unwittingly triggered the collapse of a stadium that has been needing serious refurbishment or rebuilding, and leaders were present to spearhead the protests.
