Arsenal To Meet Gamba Osaka Next July
The South American soccer federation liked the prosposal brought forward from the Japanese, and the match is likely to be an annual event, between the winners from both the Copa Sudamericana and the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup.
Gamba Osaka will play host to the Argentines in the only encounter between the sides, on the 30th of July. For now they have agreed for the competition to take place for the next four years, but it will only include either a Japanese or South American team, meaning that Mexican clubs, for example, will not be invited to Japan even if they win the continent's second-tier competition. According to reports from the Argentine press the winners of the Copa Sudamericana could meet the champions of the UEFA Cup, which is the equivalent of the South American competition. If this is confirmed Arsenal will meet Sevilla in a one-off final, which is likely to take place in either Mexico or the United States. Arsenal went on to beat Club America to the Copa Sudamericana title on the away goals rule, after both teams were tied 4-4 on aggregate after the two legs. source:goal.com |
