Hugo Ibarra Leading "El Pais" Votes
From the votes already taken into consideration Hugo Ibarra of Boca Juniors leads the rankings, and is followed by his teammate Claudio Morel Rodriguez. Both players played key roles as Boca won the Copa Libertadores earlier in the year.
They are closely followed by Salvador Cabanas and Guillermo Ochoa, two players who helped Club America reach the final of the Copa Sudamericana. These four players have a slight advantage over Ever Banega (Boca Juniors), Radamel Falcao Garcia (River Plate), Fernando Belluschi (River Plate) and Rogerio Ceni (Sao Paulo). Six votes behind them there are three Chileans: Jorge Valdivia (Palmeiras), Carlos Villanueva (Audax Italiano), and Humberto Suazo (Monterrey), as well as Ignacio Gonzalez (Danubio) and Kleber (Santos). While Miguel Angel Russo (Boca Juniors) and Gustavo Alfaro (Arsenal), are expected to challenge for the best coach of the year award. All votes have to be in by the 29th of December at the latest, while the final verdict will be announced the following evening. source:goal.com |
