India‘s preparations for tonight’s clash against Lebanon have received a blow when the two left-sided players of the squad,winger Renedy Singh and defender Manju, were ruled out of the crucial second leg of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers at Jawarharlal Stadium, Chennai.

India lost the first leg 4-1 in Beirut.
Renedy Singh, known for his perfect angular crosses, is out because of an ankle problem. Mahindra’s K.Ajayan is expected to start in his place. Manju is down with high fever and will be replaced by Dempo’s Samir.
There are more problems. Chennai stadium is the only one in India which conforms to the stipulations of FIFA and Indian Coach Bob Houghton has openly expressed his displeasure at having to play there instead of Delhi.
“Our team has played in front of a capacity crowd in New Delhi. There was a totally different environment there. The team must get the maximum home advantage” Houghton told local media.
Skipper Bhaichung Bhutia added: “We might not have the same atmosphere (in Chennai). But, I think ground-wise, weather-wise; the conditions are good though I don’t feel they will give us any extra advantage.”
The ‘Sikkimese Sniper’ believes that if things go as per plans India can score three goals which are essential for India’s qualification.
“It’s not going to be easy but hopefully if things go perfectly, we can get three goals- it’s definitely possible.”
