The South Asians fell at the first hurdle in October on the road to South Africa, losing 6-1 on aggregate to Central Asian nation Tajikistan and Nayeemuddin’s contract, due to expire in June 2008, has been terminated.
"We talked to Nayeemuddin on Wednesday and told him that we will not take his services from November as the national team does not have any commitment for a long time," Manzoor Hossain Malu, Bangladesh Football Federation acting general secretary told The Daily Star.
Nayeemuddin, who took the reins in August, told the same publication that he was surprised at the decision.
"It's confusing,”he said.“I have been told I'd be called around April before the AFC Challenge Cup. It would be a huge gap and the team will suffer for their preparation for the SAFF Championship.”
