Daei:Asias Standards Are Rising
“I think Asian football is so much better today than 15 years ago and I can attribute this to the rise in the level of professionalism in many Asian clubs,” Daei told the Asian Football Confederation’s official homepage.
“I think Asian football will get better in time and I hope one day we will achieve better results in the World Cup.” Daei was in Sydney to attend the AFC’s annual awards ceremony. It brought back happy memories for the former Bayern Munich star who was named player of the year back in 1999. “Winning the AFC Player of the Year award was very good achievement and it lives long in my memory,” he reminisced. “In fact last night while I was on stage I thought time has passed very fast since I won the award. It helped me a lot in my career and I hope next year an Iranian player will win the award.” Yasser Al-Qahtani of Saudi Arabia was awarded the 2007 version on Wednesday evening. source:goal.com |
