Pohang Steelers Sign Denilson
After agreeing to extend the contract of coach Sergio Farias, the K-League winners have signed Denilson from Daejeon Citizen.
The Brazilian finished the 2007 season as the second top scorer in the league with 14 goals in 23 games. In his two seasons with the club, the 31 year-old found the target 28 times. It had been reported that the former Al Shabab star could be heading back to the UAE but he was unable to resist a move to the south-east where Pohang, who lifted their first K-League title for 15 years in November, are building a team to challenge for the 2008 Asian Champions League. “Next season we will participate in the Asian Champions League so we need to reinforce our attacking strength,” Pohang Kim Hyun-sik told reporters. The contract is a two-year deal and, at the request of the player, the details will stay secret. That wasn’t the only activity at the club. Brazilian midfielder Taveres, who recorded 11 assists during the season, and striker Schwenck will leave while compatriot Jonas has signed a new contract. source:goal.com |
