Saudi League Preview: Clash Of The Titans
The two giants of Saudi football go into this match with only one aim in mind – secure all three points and move to the top of the league standings.
Al Hilal are currently in third position with 23 points after 10 matches. A win against Al Ahli will ensure they move to second place, two points behind league leaders Al Ittihad. Al Ahli, though, will pose a stiff challenge for Al Hilal. The Jeddah-based outfit travel away to Riyadah where they will play in the cold weather. They are under pressure from the fans to produce results on the pitch, after they have clinched two domestic titles last season. After losing 3-1 to Al Shabab in December, the Al Ahli faithful have turned on their team. The club, therefore, are still looking to find the momentum that helped them to the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Cup and Crown Prince Cup crowns. Al Ahli are without skipper Hussein Abdulghani because of injury. Saheb Al-Abdullah is on leave due to family commitments. In the other match on Wednesday, Al-Watani of Tabuk host Taie of Hail. Taie will be looking to avoid bottom place, while Al-Watani hope to clinch all three points to improve their position. Al-Watani are in the eighth position with 15 points and Taie 11th with 7 points. source:goal.com |
