Ganaha Doping Case Brought To International Court
The striker, who was banned six matches in the J.League for receiving an intravenous injection from his club doctor, has told his lawyers to bring his case to the Swiss-based CAS.
He was also fined 10 million yen (US$91,400) by the J.League. The authorities handed out the punishment last May, insisting Ganaha's actions violated the league's anti-doping code. "We just want the CAS to make a decision based on the actual evidence," the lawyers said at a press conference in Tokyo. Ganaha's lawyers mailed the required documents to the CAS on Dec. 29 and confirmed their arrival five days later. His lawyers will argue whether the the intravenous drip of saline and vitamins is not a legitimate medical treatment and whether the J-League's action against Ganaha and his club is in line with the World Anti-Doping Agency code "I'm leaving this matter to my defense team. I hope the case will be settled at an early date," said Ganaha, who has played six times for Japan. The CAS will request the J.League to submit a response and reach a final verdict within the next four months. "We'll just wait for the CAS to contact us before deciding what course of action to take," a J.League spokesperson said. source:goal.com |
