Yanagisawa Set To Pen Deal With Kyoto Sanga
According to sources, the former Japan striker has agreed to sign for Kyoto Sanga from Kashima Antlers.
The 30-year-old will ink the deal in the next few days with the side, which has been promoted to the J.League from this season. He came to prominence in 2000, where he was voted Japan's footballer of the year by the country's sports writers in 2001. And, he put in a decent display at Japan’s 2002 World Cup campaign despite failing to find the net. So far, Yanagisawa has earned 58 caps and scored 17 times for his country. Yanagisawa started his professional career with Kashima in 1996. He moved to Europe in 2003, where he joined Sampdoria on year’s loan from the J.League side. After failing to settle at Sampdoria, he moved on to Messina in July 2004, where he stayed until early 2006. His stint in Italy, however, saw him unable to find the net at all. Yanagisawa subsequently returned to Japan with Kashima in 2006. This season, however, he found himself out-of-favour in coach Oswaldo Oliveira's plans. He came on as a substitute in Kashima’s Emperor Cup triumph in injury time, but didn't have a shot before the final whistle. source:goal.com |
