A number of K-League clubs, as well as those from elsewhere in East Asia, were interested in signing the former World Cup hero but were scared off by Ahn’s wage demands.
Busan, Ahn’s former club, are the latest to withdraw from the bidding.
“It’s true that Ahn Jung-hwan’s agent came to Busan,” Busan coach Hwang Sun-hong told reporters.
“After listening to Ahn’s demands and conditions, the committee in charge of strengthening the team decided that it was too expensive.”
Suwon are still hoping that the player will re-sign for them before the 2008 K-League season kicks-off in March.
