Kedah Retain Top Spot In Super League
Kedah were without two of their key players, striker Marlon James and captain Victor Andrag, who were both sidelined with injuries. Malaysian international Saramsak Kram was handed the goal-scoring responsibilities – and showed he’s up to the job.
He gave the Canaries the lead in the 22nd minute. Negri Sembilan, however, drew level through their Nigerian striker Udo Fortune 10 minutes later. Nelson Sam Martin's penalty in the 69th minute clinched all three points for Kedah after Negri defender Aidil Zafuan Abdul Radzak handled the ball in the area. With the win, Kedah lead the Malaysian Super League on 19 points. Meanwhile, Selangor spurned the opportunity to keep pace with Kedah, as they gifted Terengganu an injury time equaliser. Brazilian striker Fabio Flo sent the fans dancing for joy at the Sultan Ismail Stadium in Kuala Terengganu with his goal. Selangor had taken an early lead through Liberian forward Frank Seator in the sixth minute. In another match played at Darulmakmur Stadium in Kuantan, Moroccan striker Redouane Barkaoui helped Pahang to take all three points off UPB MyTeam with his late solitary goal. Perlis handed Perak their second successive defeat at Stadium Utama in Kangar. Two late strikes enabled the hosts to clinch a 2-0 victory. Both teams had lost their previous games, with Perlis going down 2-4 to UPB-MyTeam and Perak crashing to a 2-5 defeat by Kedah last Saturday. As the match appeared to end in a stalemate, Nizaruddin Yusof scored in the 83rd minute before Zambian striker Phillimon Chepita hammered second blow on Perak with his goal the 88th minute. In other matches, Police beat Brunei DPMM 2-1 at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium while lowly Penang collected a home point in a goalless draw against Johor FC at the City Stadium. Results: Perlis 2 Perak 0 Police PDRM 2 DPMM FC 1 Kedah 2 Negri Sembilan 1 Terengganu 1 Selangor 1 Pahang 1 UPB-MyTeam 0 Penang 0 Johor FC 0 source:goal.com |
