Chunnam Sign Lee Sabic
The 34-year-old came to Korea Republic in 1998, where he was known as Jasenko Sabitovic. He joined Suwon Samsung Bluewings from Pohang Steelers in 2002.
That year, he took up Korean citizenship and changed his named. The vastly-experienced centre-back was also part of the Suwon team which crashed out in the first-round of the 2005 AFC Champions League. Lee, however, is looking forward to another assault in the continental competition this year. Despite Chunnam failing to progress past the group stage last year, he is confident that his new team will have a realistic shot at the title. "We have to make sure that we prepare really well for the competition," he said. "But I am sure that we can do really well. "I have lots of domestic experience and if we can combine well as a team and focus then I think we can win. "Coach Park Hang-seo is looking to build a strong and tight defence and I am sure that we can also win a third successive FA Cup." Chunnam have been drawn in Group G alongside the 2007 A-League champions Melbourne Victory, Japanese side Gamba Osaka and Thailand's Chonburi FC. source:goal.com |
