Clemente Won't Pick Team For Syria Qualifier
The Spaniard only arrived in the Iranian capital on Sunday.
Ebrahimzadeh, who has been caretaker boss of Iran over the past months told reporters: “Javier and I analysed Syria together, but I will be picking tomorrow’s team.” The former Sepahan coach added that Iran will play a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-2-1 system against the Syrians. "We are aware that they (Syrians) are coming to Iran to get a draw. They will play a defensive game. However, we are ready for that style of play, and we expect to play a nice football and score a few goals." Iran held their final training session before their opening World Cup qualifier against Syria on Tuesday. Clemente was present for most of this training session, although he only from the stands. The 57 year-old is expected to sit on Iran’s bench on Wednesday. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Clemente will return to Spain on Thursday. It appears that while Clemente has signed an agreement with the Iranian Football Federation to take charge of Iran, there is a clause in his contract which allows him to inspect the facilities in Iran before officially becoming the head coach of the national team. Clemente has spent this week inspecting the facilities, and is expected to make a final decision after returning to Spain. source:goal.com |
