China Confident Despite Poor Form

The Serbian took the reins last summer after Zhu Guanghu stepped down following a disappointing Asian Cup but a 4-0 loss to Hamburg in January and a goalless draw with UAE haven’t impressed the media in the Middle Kingdom.
China’s first match in a tough Group A, also containing Australia and Qatar, is a trip to face Asian champions Iraq.
Despite the problems, Petrovic is still looking ahead to the World Cup.
"I wouldn't have accepted the job if I wasn't confident of guiding the team to South Africa 2010," he told FIFA’s official homepage.
"I think China are more than capable of playing against any other Asian sides if they work hard in terms of the details."
