Jordan striker Siraj Al Tall Joins New South Wales
The Jordanian international forward left his country for Australia to complete his university degree. And, he wants to juggle between studies and football.
Al Tall is currently contracted to Jordanian League side Al-Faisaly. He joined the club as a teenager in 1999 and has been playing for the Amman-based club since. The 26-year-old has earned 10 caps for Jordan and scored four goals. The last time he featured for his country was against Kyrgyzstan in October. The 1.95-metres tall goal-poacher will begin training with Sydney Olympic this week. He is also likely to feature for the club in Saturday’s night Johnny Warren Cup final upon receiving international clearance from the Jordanian Football Association. Sydney Olympic Chairman Jim Kospetas expressed his delight in securing Al Tall’s signature. "Siraj is a talent and a gentleman as well. I must give credit to [club football director] Manny Spanoudakis and [coach] Milan Blagojevic for their sharp eye and quickness in snaring a player of this caliber," Kospetas told Football NSW. Al Tall believes turning out for Sydney Olympic will give him an opportunity to play regular football while studying for his degree. He said: "It is important to me that I can continue playing while I am here. My national coach Nelo Vingada needs to know I am playing at a good level so he can continue to consider me for the national team. "I would like to look at the A-League and other Asian leagues as well, but Olympic are a strong club that would not be out of place in a number of major leagues around Asia. The league is tough, and the standard is good. I am looking forward to the challenge." source:goal.com |
