Bendtner's Dad wants the Gunners to come down hard on Adebayor
Arsenal players turned on themselves on Tuesday night as they suffered an embarrasing 5-1 mauling at the expense of north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
It all kicked off when the Gunners were 4-1 behind as substitute Emmanuel Adebayor, who had just pulled a goal back for Arsene Wenger's side, appeared to headbut teammate Nicklas Bendtner. War Of Words There had clearly been a major disagreement between the striking pair, and a source has told The Sun exactly what provoked the trouble. "The first thing Adebayor said to Bendtner was "I’m only on because you are so s**t!" said the unnamed source. "He has been on Bendtner’s case for a long time. The pair do not get on and it finally boiled over on Tuesday night when Adebayor came on as a sub with the team 4-0 down. Bendtner ignored him, but when Adebayor said the same thing again later on, Nicklas gave Manny the finger and it all kicked off.” Action To Follow? The pair then had to be pulled apart by teammates, much to the delight of the White Hart Lane crowd. Adebayor has since apologised for his actions towards Bendtner but FA disciplinary chiefs want to study the TV footage after referee Howard Webb missed the debacle. One or both players could be suspended over the incident, but one man who particularly wants to see Adebayor punished is Bendtner's father, Thomas. "It is sad that a great player like Adebayor doesn't take his head with him onto the field," said the Dane. "What he did was mad and I'm sure Arsenal will take care of this matter and give him the right punishment. I do not expect any action to be taken against Nicklas because he was an innocent party in this matter." source:goal.com |
