Gallas: We Must Get Over Spurs Shock

After their humiliating elimination from the Carling Cup at the semi-final stage by arch-rivals Tottenham on Tuesday, Arsenal's captain, William Gallas, insists the Gunners must quickly get the 5-1 defeat out of their system.

Gallas said: "The whole club is upset, but we have to accept what happened and forget it.

"I know it is hard for our fans to lose 5-1 to Tottenham, especially as we had not lost to them for such a long time.

"In the warm-up before the game I told the players to be careful. But we conceded an early goal, lost our calm - and after that everything was no good for us.

"All the young boys wanted to go to Wembley and play in a cup final and now we are all sad because that's not going to happen.

"But we have to learn from our mistakes and focus on beating Newcastle."

The Gunners host Newcastle United at the Emirates on Saturday in the fourth round of the FA Cup, then take on the same opponents at the same venue next Tuesday in the Barclays Premier League, where they are second to Manchester United only on goal difference.
