Wenger To Make Changes In Squad For Newcastle Clash
Wenger's defence was ruthlessly exposed by Tottenham in their 5-1 Carling Cup victory over Arsenal, so the Frenchman will be relieved to have centre-back Philippe Senderos fit again. The Swiss defender missed the Spurs game after receiving a facial injury in the previous game at Fulham.
And left-back Gael Clichy will be back in the side, having overcome the groin injury that kept him on the sidelines at White Hart Lane. In the minus column, Brazilian midfielder Denilson damaged a hamstring against Spurs and is expected to miss the best part of a month recovering. Johan Djourou's groin injury and a thigh problem for Robin van Persie means those two are still receiving treatment and will miss out against Newcastle. Wenger will, though, have his experienced midweek substitutes available if required. Talking to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday afternoon, Wenger said: "I will rotate, yes. "Some players will go out and some players who were rested will come in. "From Tuesday night I don't think we'll lose anybody apart from Denilson, who will be out for three or four weeks. He has a hamstring. "Gael Clichy should be available again after a groin problem and, of course, the players who were on the bench should be available too. "Senderos is available again but not Djourou and Van Persie." source:goal.com |
