Kuyt:"They were incredible,"
The Blue Square South team took the lead twice before the Premier League giants fought back to win the game 5-2.
"They were incredible," Kuyt told the club's official website. "I think when you are in the non-league and you go 1-0 and then 2-1 up against Liverpool you are doing very well and all the credit must go to them for their performance." He also admitted that his boss and his team-mates were left stunned by the two Havant goals when they went in at half-time. "It was unbelievable," added the Dutchman. "We didn't expect to concede two goals...there were few words from the boss. But I think everybody was disappointed with the score at half-time. "We knew what we needed to do to make it better and we did that." Liverpool were ultimately saved by a hat-trick from Yossi Benayoun and Kuyt said it was further proof of how much of an impact the Israeli has made since his arrival from West Ham during the summer. "When you are in your first season with a club and you go and get two hat-tricks like that it is really impressive," said Kuyt, referring to Benayoun's previous treble in Liverpool's 8-0 hammering of Besiktas in the Champions League. The Dutch international, who replaced hat-trick hero Yossi Benayoun after 72 minutes, also spoke about his failure hit the back of the net since early December. "I think the goals will come, I just need to keep working hard and be ready when the ball comes to me," he commented. source:goal.com |
