Robbie Savage has recovered from the foot injury that saw him leave Pride Park on crutches 11 days ago. Savage was hurt during Derby County's 3-0 home defeat by Tottenham Hotspur, scans confirming that the Welsh midfielder had suffered severe bruising.

But having shrugged off that latest injury set-back, Savage will be fit to face Erby manager Paul Jewell's former club, Wigan Athletic, at the JJB Stadium this weekend.

Jewell admits that Savage has not yet shown his best form since moving to Derby from Blackburn Rovers in a £1.5million deal last month, but attributes that to a series of niggly injuries.

"Sav had a week off from training last week after taking quite a nasty knock on his foot," said Jewell.

"He has had niggle after niggle and he has been playing with the help of injections.

"We are hoping to get him playing pain-free and get him playing somewhere near his potential."
