Ramos: Arsenal Were Magnificent

The Gunners surprised many people by going to San Siro and beating reigning European and World Champions AC Milan 2-0, ensuring their progression to the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Tottenham take on PSV Eindhoven in the last 16 of the Uefa Cup tonight and Ramos knows his side are also capable of playing great football.

Arsenal Magnificent

“I liked the way Arsenal played against Milan - I thought they were magnificent," commented the Spaniard. "They thoroughly deserved their win and were better over two legs.

"But I must say I am not jealous as we played similarly good football when we won the semi-final of the Carling Cup against Arsenal. I think the main thing is that my players believe they have the ability to play like that.”

Birmingham Shock

Spurs came crashing down from their Carling Cup final triumph over Chelsea, suffering a 4-1 reverse at Birmingham last Saturday. Ramos admits it's was a crushing blow but is hopeful his players can put it behind them and focus on making progress in Europe, revealing that he took his time to speak to the squad after the hammering.

“I like to say things to the players when I have thought about them," he explained. "I am not calm straight after such a hard result. No, I’m not Mr Nasty -I am fair. Sometimes with players, I think it is like with your child. When you are happy you give them a sweet - and when you are angry you tell them off.”
