Reports Link Reyes To St Jame's Park

Reyes was regarded as an upcoming talent just a decade ago, but all is not well with his career. He was the first breed of talented bunch of youngsters from Sevilla which also included Sergio Ramos, Jesus Navas, Diego Capel and the Antonio Puerta.

He was signed by Arsenal at just 20 and what looked like a promising career at Arsenal did not happen. Though he was a good player, he could not seal a regular spot in the first team and failed to impress Wenger who is known to groom young talent and Reyes also found it difficult to get in par with life in London and also the climate.

He was loaned to Madrid in the 2006-07 season, there again he was handed a role of part timer and could not showcase his talent. Though Madrid won the primera liga that season Reyes was sent back to Arsenal and was immediately snapped up by Madrid's local rivals Athletico.

Things did not improve for Reyes at Athletico which already boasted strong wingers in as Simao Sabrosa and Maxi Rodriguez and Reyes could not make it to the first team. So he is likely to move away from Athletico Madrid and the possible destination could be Newcastle.

But Reyes had a tough time with Arsenal and struggled with life in London, as well as the weather. So we will have to wait to see how desperate he is to get first team action. If he fails to grab attention from any Spanish clubs then he may have to settle with Toon's offer, which will be quite surprising.

Newcastle Club chiefs Terry McDermott and Mike Ashley have promised a relaunch of rather large proportions this summer, if Toons are to win relegation battle, which now seems to be a god possibility under KK, Reyes could well be on his way to St James park.
