Henry hits out at row reports
Thierry Henry has vehemently denied reports of a bust-up with Arsene Wenger in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, with the Arsenal captain revealing he left training upset after learning he faces a spell on the sidelines.
Reports in the English press on Saturday morning suggested that the French star stormed out of Arsenal's training session on Friday after clashing with Wenger over whether he could be fit to face Tottenham in the North London derby. Some commentators even suggested that his future at Emirates Stadium could be in jeopardy as a result of the supposed argument, but Henry has now emerged to set the record straight. The Gunners skipper has hit out at elements of the English media for 'inventing a story', whilst also revealing that his unhappiness was caused by the worrying news that his sciatic nerve problem has ruled him out for an as yet undefined length of time. "I'm not happy to be missing the Spurs game. I'm starting to get tired of it [false reports] to be honest," Henry told Sky Sports News. "The story in the paper this morning is based on non-proven facts. People are talking and inventing a story. "It is true that yesterday I left the training ground upset. "There wasn't any bust-up, but I was simply upset because I am not playing today and I am going to be out for a little while. "I have been saying since the beginning of the season that I am not fully fit and people didn't have to know, but now people have to know. "I was playing out there being a bit injured, I was going out there to help the team but unfortunately for some time I am going out there not being 100 per cent fit and it's not the way to help the team. "So we have decided I've got to take a bit of a rest and come back when I am going to be fully fit, that is why I left the training ground upset. "So then unless you are David Blaine or someone psychic you cannot know what happened but it is funny that all the time people print this kind of unproven facts. "But I just came here once again to support the team and I was not going to say what apparently people had set up that I was already in France sulking or whatever. "It's just a bit bad to see that happening all the time, but unfortunately here that is the way it is." Henry also emphatically underlined that there was no disagreement with Wenger over the sciatic nerve problem that ruled him out of the first North London derby at Emirates Stadium and beyond. "No that is not true at all," he stated. "It isn't true at all." Henry remains unsure as to when he will be fit to lead The Gunners again, after admitting that his exertions at the World Cup finals have had a clear knock-on effect for his form this season. "I don't know [a return date]. I came back from the World Cup a bit tired, I have played a lot of games and professionally losing two finals like that is not easy but I just don't know. "My sciatic nerve is playing a bit with me, I've been having that for two or three months or so with my hamstring, but that is the way it is. "Maybe in a naïve way I went out there to help and maybe it is not the way to go and help when you are not 100 per cent fit. "Now I will listen to my body and make sure I can come back and fire them team up when I get back." |
