Kashtan: Nobody Should Question Us
Israel’s Russian-born goalkeeper coach Alexander Ubarov had admitted earlier that he would like the Russians to qualify ahead of the English and, that the Israelis plan to field a few new players.
However, Dror Kashtan refuted that his side would allow the Russians to walk over them and thus end England’s Euro dream. “Everyone who is suggesting we have got any kind of incentives should know our values are much stronger than any incentive,” said a determined Kashtan. He further added that Israel is ready to win despite having nothing on the line. One notable absentee from the Israel squad from that game is none other than skipper Yossi Benayoun. The Liverpool player has been in terrific form for his club as he scored a hat-trick in a Champions League game against Besiktas last week. He is out with an adductor injury for three weeks. “It is a shame that Yossi is not with us now. He could have contributed, but we will have to manage without him this time,” added Kashtan. The Three Lions would be praying that Israel don’t let in goals and the key to that is goalkeeper Dudu Aouate. However, the Israeli international mentioned that the team is not thinking of England as they enter tonight’s encounter. “England are a big enough team to qualify for the Euro. I think things were in their hands,” he said. “We want to go to the game in the most sporting way possible and in order to get points and that’s it.” source:goal.com |
