Fernando Torres scored the lead and gave Spain a much deserved lead at half time. He was unlucky earlier when his header hit the pole, when he had overpowered the German defenders. Torres lifted the ball over Lehmann after receiving a slick pass from Xavi.

First half clearly belonged to Spain as they were fantastic in defense and relied much on counter attack and it worked well and they kept the German defenders on their toes. Germany lacked the creativity and were handed well by the star studded Spanish midfield.

It will be interesting to see how Germany come back in second half. Joachim Loew has lot to think about..
