India: Renedy Singh Slowly Recovering
Renedy suffered the injury during the Nehru Cup back in August but it wasn’t serious at that moment.
“In the Nehru Cup, I got injured. Since, it was an ankle injury I carried on as it is one of those niggling ones which a player always has,” said Renedy. Renedy Singh had pulled out of the home leg against Lebanon due to acute pain in his ankle and India, indeed missed his accurate crosses. “I played against Al Nasr in Dubai and the away leg of the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Lebanon in Beirut. That worsened things and after the camp for the home leg, I was rightly adjudged unfit.” “The doctors believe that the injury occurred due to muscle stress and overuse. I have been taking medicines as per the schedule.” The North-Eastern player is to start jogging in about three day’s time. So will Renedy be fit for the kick-off of the I-League for club JCT Mills? “I am definitely going to miss the first game. The medical team believes I shall be ready in about two and a half weeks. But full fitness will take at least a month.” Talking about his club, Renedy said: "We have to gel as a team. We haven’t practiced together for a long time.” Meanwhile, news from the JCT camp is that Indian striker Sunil Chhetri has been ill with fever for the past five days. source:goal.com |
