Reports: AFC Postpone Vision India Program
The project involved the setting up of Delhi's Elite City League, due to start on November 19th.
Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon was to grace the opening ceremony and possibly provide a substanial grant for the project. “Two top Chelsea officials along with the London mayor were expected to attend the opening day ceremony. It would have been a big boost for the game in India but the poor handling of affairs by the AIFF and the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) has marred the entire project,”a source close to the AIFF was quoted as saying by the Delhi media. The AFC wanted the Delhi Elite City League to be played with 10 clubs and in a round robin format but AIFF officials couldn’t finalize the teams. A suggestion from AIFF of playing the Elite League with 16 teams divided in two groups was reportedly rejected by the AFC who decided to postpone the program for 12 months. source:goal.com |
