Derby Della Molle Moved Forward
The Derby Della Molle between bitter rivals Juventus and Torino was scheduled to take place at the same time as all other week 25 games on Wednesday February 27.
However, as a result of pay-per-view television the game has now been switched to kick off 24 hours earlier to accommodate the requirements. The derby, one of Italy’s most famous, will begin at 19.30 CET on Tuesday. This season saw the first game between the two teams in almost five years since Juventus beat the Granata 2-0 in 2003. Although Torino were in Serie A last season, the fixture was not on the calendar as the Bianconeri were playing their football in Italy’s second tier as a result of the Calciopoli punishment the club sustained in 2006. Toro have not won against the Old Lady since their 2-0 victory almost 13 years ago. That season Juve won the 'home' tie 5-1 thanks to goals from Fabrizio Ravanelli and Gianluca Vialli. Calcio has come along way since then, but no doubt Torino will be hoping to cause an upset and ensure they earn themselves derby bragging rights for the first time in over a decade. The sides from the piedmont capital have already met this season and it was David Trezeguet who drew first blood as the Bianconeri put the Granata to the sword and held on to win the game 1-0 source:goal.com |
