Serie A referee Antonio Gianoccaro Issues Warning On Zalayeta "The Diver"
The Napoli striker has been heavily criticised and he picked up a ban not so long ago when he dived twice to con a referee into awarding his side two penalties when they beat Juventus 3-1 earlier this season.
Since then, the Uruguayan has been labelled as a diver and the referee paid particular attention to him during Napoli’s game away to Sampdoria on Sunday which the Partenopei lost 2-0. Refereeing designator Pier Luigi Collina was at the game to keep an eye on proceedings, but according to Il Mattino newspaper Gianoccaro, who was in charge of the match, warned his assistants before kick off of Zalayeta's antics. “Pay attention to Zalayeta, we all know what he is capable of,” said the referee. It seems as if the Napoli striker is known to referees as a diver following the Juve game. Recently there has been far too much controversy regarding refereeing decisions in Serie A. Collina knows he has his work cut out if we are to stop seeing incidents like the ones we witness week in week out. source:goal.com |
