The Brazilian only signed for the Giallorossi in the summer from Real, however he has featured sparingly in the Italian capital.

He has made just six starts in Serie A, and was left out of the recent weekend defeat to Juventus.

Cicinho was made to believe that this was because he was set to play against his former employers in the Champions League last 16 first leg clash at the Stadio Olimpico last night.

However the 27-year-old was again snubbed, and upon learning of his omission, he is believed to have immediately demanded that he be transfer listed.

Roma agreed to the player’s proposal and said that he would be sold in the summer.

Cicinho had been looking forward to this game for several weeks, and had done a number of interviews in the Italian and Spanish press in recent days.
