Gordon Strachan, capped 50 times for Scotland between 1980 and 1992, eventually got around to praising his teammates after being inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

"There are legends in the Hall of Fame; I was a half-decent player who had good team-mates," chuckled Strachan.

"I am quite annoyed with myself because in the acceptance speech I forgot to mention these guys.

"It's quite stunning being up there with people asking you questions but I'd like to put on record that if it wasn't for all my good team-mates that I played with, then I wouldn't be there."

Former Rangers midfielder Brian Laudrup - already a member of the Hall - accepted an award on behalf of current Rangers boss Walter Smith, whom he served under in the mid 1990s.

Laudrup remarked, "I am very sad he is not here; that was one of the reasons I came.

"I would have loved to have presented this award, but it's well-deserved; he's a fantastic man.

"I have said on so many occasions that he is one of the best managers I ever had.

"At that particular time in my career he was very, very important, he really gave me the freedom to play. I have so much respect for him."

Other inductees include Alan Hansen, Rose Reilly, Eddie Turnbull, Ally McCoist, Willie Bauld, Eric Caldow and former Morton goalkeeper Jimmy Cowan.
