Super League Weekend Preview: Round 9

Olympiacos had to wait for 31 matches without success on their travels in Champions League before beating Werder Bremen 3-1. Those staggering statistics now seem to be only a bad dream for the club as they look to take steps forward both in Europe and domestically.
However, the "Red-and-Whites" have yet to claim a win in their four league games away from home this season, subsequently dropping down to fourth place, four points behind top-placed Panathinaikos.
A home victory over newly-promoted Veria on Saturday afternoon is a must for them if they want to avoid unexpected troubles in their bid to defend their title.
On the same day, Aris, another club aiming high this season, face a tough task at Levadiakos. Dusan Bejevic’s side look like the dark horses in the race for the title, but should be very careful against their hosts, who might be just two points off the bottom of the table, but there are always dangerous at home.
Front-runners Panathinaikos head into their tie against Larissa having won four of their last five games, including the Athenian derby against AEK two weeks ago. On the other hand, last season's Greek Cup winners have done well in their UEFA Cup encounters, but in Super League, have shockingly won just one game since the start of the season.
For second-placed AEK, it's only a win that will do, particularly as they are at home hosting struggling OFI. Two consecutive defeats to Iraklis and Pana saw them concede pole position, and the game against the Cretans seem like a great chance to return to winning form.
Elsewhere, high-flying Asteras Tripolis will want to continue their winning streak with an away victory over bottom-placed Ergotelis Crete, while Xanthi take on Iraklis, looking for their first success since matchday two.
In the other games, PAOK welcome in-form Panionios, who had to return from two goals down to beat Xanthi last time around, and Atromitos visit Apollon Kalamarias.
