Uniao de Leiria came into this fixture without yet having registered a win in the Portuguese league, an incredible statistic considering they finished in seventh place last season.
The visitors today were Maritimo, who had exceeded many people's expectations with a fine start to the season, but who had also lately encountered poor results in the league.

Leiria go into the Christmas break without registering a victory yet this season, and the club will surely have to refresh their ideas in the second half of the season if they are to avoid relegation.
Leixoes 1-1 Vitoria de Setubal
Newly-promoted Leixoes battled out a draw versus high flying Vitoria de Setubal in a tight contest in Matosinhos. Leixoes have made a habit of drawing this season, with this result their ninth.
The game opened brightly, with Leixoes dominating, and opening the scoring on 18 minutes with Jorge Goncalves flicking in a corner from Hugo Morais at the near post. Setubal reacted quickly however, and in the 23rd minute Filipe equalised at the second attempt, after an initial valiant save by goalkeeper Beto.
In a game with several cards shown, and at times a frantic pace, neither team was able to grab the all-important winner.
Both teams will go into the Christmas break content with their league positions, with Setubal lying in fifth place and Leixoes sitting 6 points clear of the relegation zone.
Braga 0-0 Boavista
Braga came into this game on the back of ever improving results, and were climbing the table steadily; in contrast, the Oporto side Boavista found themselves hovering above the relegation zone and in desperate need of points.
The game was often dominated by Braga, however the home side were unable to break down the visitors' defence - with Boavista goalkeeper Jehle having a fine match.
Braga's best opportunity of the match came in the 83rd minute, with Wender finding Joao Tomas alone in the area after a fine pass, only for the Portuguese striker to fire over the bar.
Boavista will be happy with a point away from home, although they only sit one place above the relegation zone, and will hope to climb up the table after the Christmas break.
Braga will be left rueing their missed chances in this game, but after a slow start to the season, will be content to be only 3 points away from fourth place-their season objective.
