Albania Appoint Haan As Manager
The Dutch coach has appointed to succeed Otto Barić with the aim being to qualify his side for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
His predecessor had an unsuccessful Euro 2008 qualifying run, with the team finishing fifth in Group G, never suggesting to mount any sort of challenge for qualification. Haan will travel to Albania and formally sign the deal in the new year after beating former Austria manager Hans Krankl to the job. The 59-year-old had long stints with Ajax and Anderlecht as a player; the midfielder was even capped 35 times for his country. He has a long CV as a manager, but ominously hasn't managed to hold on to a job for an extended period of time. During his 23 years of management he has been employed with clubs and countries, from Antwerp and Feyenoord to China and even the Cameroon. His only notable success came when he led Anderlecht to the Belgian league title in 1986. source:goal.com |
