Ligue 1 Round-Up: Lens Thrash Lyon, Nice Edge Nancy

OGC Nice 1 - 0 AS Nancy-Lorraine

Nice made it ten home games unbeaten with a routine victory over a Nancy side that, while still looking good, does not travel too well.

The Aiglons may have lost five players to the African Cup of Nations, but it didn't show as they started well against an ailing Nancy defence.

Bracigliano had to be at his best to save the visitors' blushes twice in the first half, while Puygrenier cleared an effort off the line early in the second.

It seemed as if Nice's pressure, however unrelenting, was not to be enough, but Hellebuyck drove home a long-range effort 70 minutes in to keep the points on the Cote d'Azur.

Racing Club Lens 3 - 0 Olympique Lyonnais

League leaders Lyon fell victim to Lens in what was a quite shocking evening at the Felix-Bollaert.

The first half was largely even, with Lyon playing at a half-pace and Lens biding their time. However, this was to give no indication as to what was to follow.

For what came in the second half was nothing less than a sang-et-or goal blitz. First, Maoulida netted ten minutes after the interval following a tremendous, team-based counter-attack, and then Bisevac might have made it 2-0 just a few minutes later, only for his header to flash wide.

The home fans dared to dream 20 minutes from time when Bisevac did manage to get a header over the line, and then the passive Lyon defence allowed Mangane through to wrap it up right at the death.

Visiting coach Alain Perrin had a strong side out for this one, making the defeat all the more galling. Full credit must go to Lens, however, for such ambition.
