Gerald Cid: Bolton Was A Disappointment
Gerald Cid joined Bolton Wanderers in the summer from Bordeaux and made 14 appearances for the English Premier League club before heading back to France at the first opportunity - when the January transfer window opened.
And he is claiming now that Bolton's low-intensity training regime was a major reason why he quit the club to join Nice. Describing his spell with Wanderers as "a disappointment," the 24-year-old told L'Equipe: "Some people have told me that I was mad to leave. But I could not see myself remaining on the bench or playing on the left for several more months. "As soon as I knew the door was open to go I did not need to give it much thought." Cid feels he stood no chance of improving as a footballer with Bolton, declaring: "I feel as though I worked less during training sessions than I ever did in France. "We kept all of our energy for the matches. We would have a long warm-up, small games, but often every day was the same. "To me training sessions are important if you want to improve, and that was not going to happen." source:goal.com |
