Adriano Risks Suspension After Head Butting A Opponent
In recent weeks, Adriano has been slowly regaining the form which had brought him so much success in Italy, but the latest negative episode could seriously dent his caree.
The Brazilian player was sent off during the game against Santos after headbutting an opponent, Domingos. Next Monday a decision will be taken on what his sanction will be. He could receive anything from a three match suspension to an 18 month ban, even though this would only be valid for the Paulista league and he could therefore play in any other competition. Adriano tried to defend himself and explain why he head butted his opponent. "I don't know what the referee saw. The Santos player put his hands in my face and I asked him for what reason he was doing so," he shrugged. However, Adriano's coach, Muric Ramalho, was less understanding as he slammed the player for this expulsion. "Adriano made a mistake - he cannot do such things," he boomed source:goal.com |
