Robinho: I'm Not The New Zidane

Robinho couldn't hide his delight in the aftermath of Real Madrid's 5-1 win at the Mestalla against Valencia.

The young winger told As, ""Against Valencia, we saw the Real Madrid that we all want to see.

"We enjoyed it and knew that it was a very important clash, and after Raul scored, we knew that we could manage something significant.

"After that, we were a machine. That was the Madrid that Schuster, the fans and the players all want.

"But we need to be careful: if we lose against Sevilla, Valencia may only be three points behind us."

Robinho restated Real Madrid's commitment to attractive football, saying that it was a product of confidence and relaxation.

"Our main goal is to win, but we also want to play well, too," he added.

"I usually compare Real Madrid to Brazil: it's not just about victory, but playing beautiful football.

"Why didn't we do so earlier? We needed to enjoy and have fun with football."

As well as enjoying football, the Brazilian international feels that Madrid always rise to the occasion in the big games.

"I think that we play our best against the top teams. I have superb confidence in Real Madrid.," he said.

"I know that it's at crucial moments when the players start to show their capabilities. It's these games that tell people that we're here and ready to fight for the title.

"That's what we did in Valencia, and that's what we'll do in Seville.

"They're playing well at the moment. Last season they had a fantastic season and still have good players. And they're already gelled together, having a settled squad that's been around for a while.

"They play well together: they all defend and attack as one. It's a true team.

"My own play there? I'll try to make a match that people enjoy a lot. I hope that it's an attractive game and that Madrid win again.

"I'm working hard this year, and I think that I can play well. First and foremost I want Madrid to win titles in all our competitions, and to enjoy myself as well.

"I prefer playing on the left; it's my natural side and I feel I have more possibilities there. That's not to say that I can't play on the right; just, I prefer the left.

"Zidane's successor? He was a unique player. He had unbelievable quality. I learned so much from him and I'm proud to have played alongside him. I want to have the success that he had, playing with joy and making the Bernabeu crowd happy.

"Does that make me the new Zizou? No, the new Zizou is much more! Zizou is Zizou, Robinho is Robinho. I still have much to learn and want to do all the good things that he did."

Robinho, 23, arrived at the Bernabeu in 2005.
