Raúl Is Fantastic - Güiza

The former Getafe striker was named in the national squad for the first time last by Luis Aragonés and celebrated with a goal in the Bernabéu.

Despite Raúl continuing to be omitted by Luis Aragonés, the Madrid captain still found time to wish Güiza well and the move went down very well.

"Raúl is a fantastic person and a true professional," he said. "He congratulated me, wished me luck and told me to take advantage of the call."

Güiza put Mallorca into a second-half lead on Sunday evening, but the hosts fought back to snatch all three points.

"The players are angry because to score three goals away from home and lose is daft," he continued.

"We played well, but everyone is very annoyed about losing after doing so well in the Bernabéu.

"Now, we have to continue playing like that and working hard because next we have a very hard game against Sevilla."

Defensive Work

Fernando Varela scored twice for the visitors in the first half and was upset that Mallorca did not sit back and defend in numbers after going in front.

"The team have performed well, but have a bad taste on our mouths," he explained. "When we took the lead we should have closed up shop and defended more.

"Instead, we continued to attack more than defending and we should not have done that."

Despite that, Varela admitted that he was pleased with his own performance: "I enjoy playing in the Bernabéu as I have now scored three goals in my last two games there," he added.
