Forlán Confident Of UEFA Cup Glory
The Uruguayan forward is back in the groove after helping Los Colchoneros to victory at Racing on Saturday and hopes that form can continue in Europe in midweek.
"It is a good tournament and we want to go even further. We should be looked to win it," Forlán said. "We are looking forward to the game against Bolton, although we know it will not be easy." One statistic that will add more pressure to Forlán is that every time he has scored for Atleti this season the team has won. "Up until now that is how things have gone. It is not really something that I think about," he explained. "It is more important that Atlético won against Racing and we did. Scoring two goals in a game is great, but I thought it was even better that the team performed in such a vital game. "Despite the defeats and bad results we have had, there is still too much quality in this side to worry. "It obvious that we needed to win the game. We have not been doing well lately and had to stop that run. "We scored against Racing, but against other teams they have dried up." Pressure had been growing on the Atlético forwards to take advantage of the opportunities that came there way as the team began to stumble in the league. "It is does not worry me if I do not score," Forlán continued. "As a striker, my job is to score, but I also know that there will be gamas when that does happen. "Now I am playing slightly further back than normal and have not had as many chances, but I have always stayed calm. "Against Racing I thought we played very well at the back, we looked really solid. "Then up front we took advantage of our chances." source:goal.com |
