United Fans Hospitalised After Pre Match Violence

Violence in the centre of Rome led to arrests and injuries ahead of the Roma - Manchester United Champions League clash today.
The injuries - to Manchester United fans - are not thought to be serious.
Italian police confirmed that the United supporters were hurt during trouble in Rome, and two fans were arrested.
A UK Foreign Office spokesman said: "It appears there was trouble outside the stadium.
"A number of British fans were injured and two British nationals have been arrested.
"Our consular officials are on the way to the hospital to check on conditions, the numbers involved and whether anyone needs assistance.
"The situation is now said to be calm both outside and inside the stadium."
United had feared there might be problems ahead of the game, because there were violent incidents when the two clubs met in last season's Champions League quarter-final at Stadio Olimpico in April.
In that game, a number of United fans had been hurt by police after disturbances in the crowd between involvingboth sets of supporters.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had said on Tuesday that he hoped the game would pass off peacefully.
And the Italian police, who had been widely condemned in April for their heavy-handed tactic, were anxious to avoid any repetitions.
The 1,200 United fans who travelled to Rome were mostly shepherded into the stadium two hours before kick-off. Segregation was made easier by a less than capacity crowd, so there was no opportunity for supporters to be pelted by missiles, as happened last April.
