Fabregas: We Dont Need Extra Motivation Against Milan
Arsenal will aim to emulate Liverpool tonight be securing a home win against a Milanese giant.
AC Milan are the visitors to the Emirates and Gunners midfielder Cesc Fabregas know the Rossoneri, defending European champions, will ask massive questions of his side. No More Slip-Ups If Arsenal want to prove themselves as genuine European contenders then tonight's is a game they simply must excell in. Any repeat of the shambles of a showing at Old Trafford on Saturday, where the Gunners were hammered 4-0 by Manchester United, would likely see Arsene Wenger's men crash out of another competition. "We didn't play well and you don't win anything playing like that," admitted Fabregas of the FA Cup loss. "But we want to win things and when you play against Milan, you don't need extra motivation. We have to come back and be stronger than ever. It's probably the ultimate challenge," the Spaniard added of tonight's opponents. "The key will be in midfield. Midfield Stars "They have experienced, strong, intelligent players. We'll have to be at our best because they are very experienced and they can kill us in a minute. I really like Pirlo," he added. "He's a great player, very intelligent and a great passer of a ball. He's always looking at the best solution. There's also Kaká, who had a great year last year, and we'll have to be careful of him. But they have many strengths. Not just those two. "They have players who work hard for the team and they are one of the best midfields in Europe. But we are not scared of anything," Fabregas stressed. "We respect them a lot because they are a side of great players who have won nearly everything. But we want to be like them in the end. This is a game where we can start to show we are ready to take on that challenge. Dual Focus "We're focusing on two competitions - this and the Premier League - and trying to go as far as we can," Fabregas explained. "We have the potential to do that. We want to be in the final again. We want to win it, and the Premier League. It will be tough because we're not a squad of 30 players. We have to be focused and give 100 per cent. This is what champions are. We have to do what we have been doing throughout the season." source:goal.com |
