Chelsea Vs Liverpool: CL Semi final Preview

Chelsea And Liverpool have faced each other on three previous occasions and and two of those matches were in the Semi final stages and the Reds have been the better side and went on to win the cup in 2005 against Milan. Benitez has been the most consistent in Europe taking Liverpool to the finals on two occasions in three years and he would like to repeat this fate once again. Grant will be looking to be the first manager to take Chelsea to a Champions League Final.
The first leg will happen at Anfield, there wont be any goal fest from both the sides, in the last six European fixtures between these sides only three goals have been scored. Liverpool have won their last four Champions League games at Anfield and Chelsea have lost only once in last ten matches. Both the teams have been in good form and we should be seeing a cracker of a game.
Reds are heaving a sigh of relief after their inspirational striker Steven Gerrard was declared match fit.He has recovered in time from the neck injury which ruled him out of Saturday's Premier League win at Fulham. Alvaro Arbeloa, Ryan Babel, Dirk Kuyt and Xabi Alonso who were rested against Fulham will also featuring in tonights clash.
Blues will also be boosted with the return of Lampard, Chelsea vice-captain has missed last two matches to at the bedside of his mother Pat, who is hospitalised pneumonia.
However, his agent Steve Kutner released a statement on Monday morning that the England international is ready to play at Anfield.
Michael Essien will be out serving a suspension Ballack will miss due to an injury, so the onus will be on Lampard to be the creative force in the midfield.Chelsea will also be without Carlo Cudicini (hamstring), while striker Didier Drogba is doubtful with a knee injury.
